With objects ranging from a torn Titanic (?) poster to a pregnancy test, the ‘most innovative museum in Europe’ (Kenneth Hudson Award 2011) takes visitors on a tour of broken relationships from around the world. Against the backdrop of societal norms and political upheaval, the accompanying stories portray a panorama of feelings: rage, sorrow, indifference, the desire for revenge, and sometimes even irony. Founded in Zagreb in 2006, the collection has grown as it has travelled through cities such as Amsterdam, Istanbul, Cape Town, New York, Manilla, Mexico City, Paris, San Francisco, and Singapore; now, it is Basel’s turn to contribute to this ‘archive of feelings’.
