This new piece from the renowned Lebanese artist Rabih Mroué is perhaps his most personal – during the civil war, Rabih’s brother Yasser was injured, hampering his ability to speak. Yasser tells his story on stage, presenting the videos he made at the advice of his doctor to help him re-train his ability to describe the things around him. The performance is both an accidental biography and a discourse on the disintegration of the relationship between signifier and signified, image and representation.
